Overview

This short film serves as a dynamic showcase of the inaugural recipients of MTV’s “Leaders for Change” grant, an ambitious Social Impact initiative designed to identify, support, and amplify the remarkable work of young changemakers who are advancing voting access within their own communities. Over an intensive, month-long shoot, our production team traveled to multiple sites such as Raleigh and Greensboro, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; and Austin, Texas, to capture authentic, on-the-ground moments that highlight each grantee’s innovative strategies and personal stories.

Following its completion, the film debuted in a prime-time slot on MTV’s linear broadcast in observance of National Voter Registration Day 2019, reaching millions of viewers with a compelling call to civic engagement. In the weeks that followed, it was strategically released across MTV’s digital platforms—including MTV.com, MTV News, VH1, and affiliated social channels, ensuring that the inspiring narratives of these young leaders resonated widely and sparked further conversation around voter empowerment and community organizing.
